Staying True to Your Style
We hear it all the time, and it's pretty corny: Stay true to yourself
I always think, "Yea, yea yea..."
However in the realm of photography and especially photoshop editing style, this saying rings incredibly true!
This past weekend, my son and I were invited to a Mother/Son Sock Hop Dance! Oh.Em.Gee.
* Hear me saying: "Yessssssssssss" in my head and doing a hand jive...*
So of course, my husband took a few pictures for me. I decided, "Well, it's from the 1950s so let me process those images kind of vintage style."
I started and ended up with this:
Hmmm....I know the image was not the best lit or best framed picture, but my attempt at post processing vintage style left much to be desired!
I always thought I'd lean towards the more "vintage" style of post processing and photo session styling, but I'm just NOT. Some of my most favorite photographers definitely have a vintage look to them! I love vintage!
I just don't DO vintage! I apparently do NOT post process my images vintage style very well - as evidence up there!
When shopping for a photographer, it is very important to choose someone who's editing style and "look" you prefer. If you are looking for a vintage-leaning photographer, I do not think it is in your best interest to call me!
So back to the beginning: Stay true to yourself.
Knowing (and now verifying) that I am not a vintage style photographer, I really am more of this look:
Colorful, vibrant, rich, and classic. Yup, that's me.
I recently dropped off some marketing pieces to a really fantastic Christian school in my area here who is going to be distributing my materials and the head mistress gasped when she saw my marketing piece.
She said to me: "Oh my word, this is GORGEOUS! It's just so classic and beautiful!"
I was so taken aback by her response, but it made me reflect on the words she used that may be perfect in describing my look and style!
So yes - definitely classic, definitely colorful, definitely rich, but not necessarily perfect! That sounds like La Lume to me.
Bises,
P
