Puppies

I never had a real pet growing up.  My parents had a doberman who bit our friend, but he stayed outside all of the time.  I'm thinking that probably doesn't count.

However, I have seen Marley and Me, and I've dog-sat for our neighbors.  I am a dog lover.  For sure.

I call all dogs "puppies," no matter the age.  I talk to them the way adults coo at little babies in that embarrassing goo goo talk and higher pitch voice.  It's not something many people know about me.

Imagine my delight when a friend of mine asked me to take some images of her adorable puppy, Nick:

We had been meaning to do this for a while but just had not had the time to schedule it.

Unfortunately, Nick started to be very, very sick.  She called me in for the session we had been talking about for months, and I showed up two days later.

I found her gorgeous puppy to be so dignified:

Who could resist those puppy dog eyes?

He loved laying near his master and basking in the sun.

It was truly lovely to see how much he loved his home and his owners.  His ears would perk up and his eyes would sparkle at Gail's commands and speech.

Nick died this past Monday, October 10th.  He spent his last moments with his family, who loved him dearly.  My heart aches for their loss, and I can only hope that these images will help Nick's memory live that much longer in their mind's eye.  I am just so glad that we made it just in time.
